Moses_StMaartenWILLEMSTAD – Curaçao opposition party “Movementu Progresivo” (MP) leader Marilyn Moses has asked government if local construction workers can be used in the rebuilding of St. Maarten following last year’s devastation caused by Hurricane Irma.

She sent a letter to Minister of Social Development, Labour and Wellbeing Hensley Koeiman (MAN) a letter to that effect. The parliamentarian spoke of a “win-win” situation where unemployed locals provide much-needed labour to St. Maarten.Moses was recently in Philipsburg and along with her advisor, former St. Maarten commissioner Julian Rollocks, visited Prime Minister Leona Romeo-Marlin. She learned that the lack of skilled craftsmen is an issue in the reconstruction process.
