ARUBA - The Rescue Coordination Centre of the Coast Guard detected by the radar on Sunday a suspect vessel south of Aruba about 17.45.
A patrol from fulcrum Aruba yanked right out with a Super-RHIB to investigate the contact. At approximately four (4) miles south of Barcadera, the vessel was found. Two coast guards boarded and found here a variety of exotic animals. Customs and Immigration Service were informed of the observations and the vessel was escorted to the port of Barcadera.
There it was thoroughly inspected by the Coast Guard and Customs. Besides the animals including four (4) mini Macaws (Parrot), one (1) Jaguarundi, one (1) Ocelot, eleven (11) Toucans, two (2) Tamarin monkeys, three (3) Cocker Spaniels, one (1) Great Dane, one (1) Bull terrier and six (6) Tortoises. Furthermore, a number of cartons of cigarettes and were also a quantity of petrol found on board.
The vessel, all animals, cigarettes and gasoline were seized by customs. The captain also received a report from the Customs for smuggling of such goods and animals. Coast Guard he was also a record for the lack of the necessary shipping documents.
