Coast Guard intercepted large consignment of narcotics

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - Coastguard Caribbean (KWCARIB) On Wednesday, October 19th a big party drugs intercepted at a 'Go Fast'. The Dash-8 patrol aircraft of the Coast Guard who just returned from Haiti where she provided assistance after the passage of Hurricane Matthew, detected a suspicious vessel about 40 miles northwest of Curacao. There were three (3) persons on board.

The Rescue and Coordination Centre (RCC) has been informed and the cutter Jaguar Panther Aruba and Curacao were sent in that direction in order to further investigate the matter. Two Super-RHIB's from Centre for Curacao also marched in support. In the night hours they were able to intercept the 'go-fast'. There was a fair amount of narcotics on board.

After investigation it appeared to go to 398 kilos of marijuana. The three crew members, two (2) with Jamaican and one Dutch national were arrested immediately. Along with the vessel and the drugs they have been applied to the fulcrum to Parera. There are three suspects and the drugs over to the police.
