Stolen boat used in mopeds hiest

MARIGOT, St. Martin - On Wednesday, September 14 at 3:20, a boat was stolen from the Royal Marina in St. Martin.

That same day at 6:10, a pedestrian noticed the presence of a stranded boat on the beach at Pointe Milou in Saint Barts. The applicant notes that the boat was lying on flank and individuals were moving mopeds on board. He immediately alerted the police.

A patrol was immediately dispatched to the scene. Three individuals immediately fled at the sight of police. They jump into the water and head out to sea to reach a boat moored to a buoy.

The police gave chase to the three criminals who were be escorted back to the beach, arrested and placed in custody.

The three in question are young men of age 20, already well known to the police and juvenile courts in St. Martin and Basse Terre. They were advised of their rights and placed into custody.

After 48 hours they were brought before the Criminal Court in Basse Terre Friday, September 16 and were immediately tried.

The court imposed sentences ranging from 18 months to 3 years imprisonment. The three young criminals were imprisoned after the hearing.
