During the morning at around 12:00 the Rescue and Coordination Center (RCC) of the Coast Guard detected a suspicious contact on radar at about six (6) miles south of Curacao.
A patrol with a Super-RHIB from the Coast Guard bases was deployed immediately.
At about a half mile south of Piscaderabaai, they found an unlit vessel type to yola.
The vessel was intercepted and immediately taken to the Coast Guard Station in Parera. Further investigation showed that twenty-one (21) individuals, twenty (20) with the Venezuelan Nationality and one with the Colombian nationality were on-board.
They also had a quantity of cigarettes, sexual stimulants, and a parcel with ammunition with him.
The items were presented to a team of VKC and Customs officers. The illegal immigrants and contraband were turned over to the police and the case is now under further investigation.
