Coast Guard intercepts illegals on Aruban beach

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - The Dutch Caribbean Coastguard (KWCARIB) in cooperation with the Police Corps of Aruba (KPA) last Friday, June 16th, 2016 during a patrol during the night hours, observed suspicious movements of a vessel and people on the beach of Rogers Beach on Aruba.

The Coast Guard moved in and the vessel in question was controlled. After a search and a pursuit of the individuals near the Rogers Beach, three (3) persons were arrested, two (2) with the Colombian nationality and one (1) with the Venezuelan nationality.20160617 085115 resized

All three have been transferred to the Police for further handling of the case.

On Friday during the day the Coast Guard whilst using the AW 139 helicopter along with the police, conducted a search in the area. As a result of this search one (1) person was arrested without valid documents.

The coast guard also found a bag of narcotics which was hidden in a number of candles.

Both the drugs and the person were taken away by the police. The drugs will be tested and weighed.

The Coast Guard will be conducting an investigation along with the KPA.
