PHILIPSBURG/ Saba - The Central Committee on the island territory of Saba met on Wednesday.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the draft budget for the year 2010.
PHILIPSBURG - The Democratic Party of St. Maarten (DP), have submitted a number of questions on the 2010 budget, indicating that there are a number of areas that the (DP) leadership still has a problem with.
PHILIPSBURG - Nagico Insurance gave a positive financial report over the weekend for the year 2009.

PHILIPSBURG - The Executive Council of the island territory of St. Maarten is sending a funding request to USONA seeking additional finances.

That is according to the leader of Government Commissioner William Marlin.

In addressing that subject during a press conference last week, Commissioner Marlin stated that there was an additional 3.4 million guilders available for social housing and that they will continue with additional homes at affordable prices for residents in need.

He said the plans are being drafted for those units which will be available at affordable prices and for families that need them most.

He hopes to get a positive answer from USONA soon so the project can proceed.

Thirty of the three bedroom units will be built first for the project to get off the ground.

PHILIPSBURG - The Democratic Party (DP) of St. Maarten held a press conference on Monday in which they addressed their concerns about the 2009/2010 budget of the Island Territory.
- The finance ministry is to set up a 200-strong team to focus on tracking down savings held in secret bank accounts abroad, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Monday.
