Sarah highest vote getter as NA takes home the victory

PHILIPSBURG - The National Alliance may have won Friday's election for parliament with 6,940 votes but the Democratic Party leader Sarah Wescot-Williams became the highest vote getter, gathering 2,032 votes all by herself.

The PPA party led by Gracita Arrindell got a few short of the thousand, they had 920 votes with their leader once again carrying the party with 590 votes to her name.

This indicates that the party will be a serious source of concern for the two bigger parties in the upcoming island elections, expected to be held later this year.

The numbers can be interpreted various ways but what is clear is that the National Alliance won on Friday by a large margin, giving them the mandate to conclude the constitutional process for St. Maarten.

Well DP party members are gloting int he fact that Sarah has become the islands
biggest vote getter...hoera for Sarah, she is the islands bigest votegetter,
what else is new. DP's time has come and Sarah can stay there and soak her blows
with all her votes. The NA has a team of good men and woman who are pulling a
helluva lot of votes under the circumstances. George the Senator has outdone
himself congrats also go out to Patrick Illidge for a job well done. PPA has
maintained a reasonable amount of support and that is great. Gracita have
patience and you and the PPA will be back in the corridors of power. We need to
get the best people for Country St. Maarten.

N.A. supporters and also the N.A. party never cease to amaze me. Whenever it
comes to N.A. we, the D.P. supporters and others, must always shut up or take
things as it comes. However whenever it comes to N.A., D.P. is always accused of

What happened during the past two years is showing me that you was not
practicing what you are preaching at this time.Because if you were watching each
move carefully in the D.P camp, you would have seen when Roy Marlin, Maria
Buncamper and her.....?, Mr Ferrier and Louie was not doing the work for the
people of St Maarten.They were helping themselves.N.A got three seats and i
think they say D.P got three brooms to sweep the offices clean so that the

All God's children have the right to a education. If you can't afford a school,
hold classes in a tent or in someone's garage. Fight and find a way, be a voice
that is heard, to follow in God's will.
This day for Sarah had to come, she must
accept that she lost, her ill directed power stopped, forgiveness with

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. William and the rest of his
team as they indeed did a good job. Congratulations! Now is the time to prove
all that has been said during the campaign. The people of St. Maarten have
entrusted the NA team with a major task and we hope that it is completed. This
is the time to keep us the people St. Maarten informed of the process, step by
step as you go.
Two issues tha are very critical to the island and needs
serious attention are, school and housing. I am certain that there are still
many youths (illegal) out there without school and many people unable to live
properly because of ridiculously high rent and the economical crisis is not
helping. My suggestion to Mr. William is to make sure that the issues that are
hurtinig the people are dealt with. Once again congratulations to NA on their
tremendous victory and keep up the godd work.

The biggest vote getter, Yeah and so what? You think the Dutch really cares who
is the biggest vote getter.The focus is to stay on Team St. Maarten and work
towards country status. This is what will make the difference. A team that can
really bring us to country status without gloating of who have the biggest piece
of cheese. They really need to see a team working on what the population voted
for. Mr Marlin said in his address that "he needs all on board, including
the opposition, to continue the process". this is indeed what is needed.
Mrs. Wescot said "she hope NA can bring home country status" wasn't she
not listening to the address. Come this is "Country above Self-Foward
together". Let us keep it that way and acheive what is planned. Next
election (not June) we can decide who is the biggest vot getter, because we will
be voting for our own Parliament. Continue the work together and let St. Maarten
be proud of the TEAM (Team SXM), not an individual...

Oh goodness with these ignorant band wagon voters of that island. I am so sick
of hearing all the stupid and belligerent comments coming from people that will
never be able to do as much as D.P has done throughout the years. Its just
nothing but a set of ungrateful people that claim that D.P has screwed this up

Oh please. There is no team SXM. There is only "Team W. Marlin".
However, thanks to this election, in many ways, that "one man" team
illusion has been broken. Indeed the people have spoken and it is clear that the
leader of N.A. is no longer the man of the hour. It is about time. N.A. has won
the election but did not do so on their own. They should be still thanking Loui
and Theo. But as usual, they don't care how they get there, as long as they get

I salute Sarah, she stood strong. N.A. has always criticized her so
now I think that they should carry on their affairs without her intervention. I

seat, I saw in South Reward sge was skinny her teeth with every voter that
passed her to go vote, poor sarah not even in Simpson bay and Colebay she got

this is federal election, much ppl dont vote.. to me the message is clear, all
the bashing ppl does sarah this and that, its clear that the majority loves her
as a leader.. she has high potentials of being our first prime minister.. look

If Sarah wanted Theo to stay on board the D.P wagon,she should have paid more
attention to the others on board the wagon.She was the leader,she had to know
what was going on,she just turn her back and look the other way.The old man Mr
Claude (rest him and bless him) must have been turning over every night in his

@ Jamaal,
You said it straight up. You got to give William credit for
carefully plotting, what he feels is, the demise of Sarah and the DP party. A
young, inexperienced politician like Theo did not realize what was going on and
he took the bait. Had he been there, there is no way N.A. would have maintained
their 2 seat votes, let alone a clean sweep. The "new" brooms are out
now but trust me, with or without Theo the D.P. will survive. It has been
clearly proven

Sarah has to take time out, let William and his crew prove
themselves if they can. She has a hard task ahead of her to try and recruit the
right people to her list who can not only take us into country SXM but clean up
the mess that this Government will leave behind. We surely will face some trying
times over the next couple of months.

But you know what? If N.A. proves
themselves, I will be the first one to put my foot in my mouth and give them
their credit due. They do have some good pieps on their list, the only problem
is they do not have the expertise and experience to face such a trying task. But
let's hope for the best. If all else fail, I know Sarah and her crew will be
there to use the old broom that is already broken in and can do a far better
cleaning than any new broom can.
