DP leader thanks electorate and congratulates NA Print E-mail

PHILIPSBURG - Leader of the Democratic Party (DP) Council Lady Sarah Wescot-Williams, issued a press release on Sunday in which she congratulated the National Alliance (NA) on their victory at the polls on Friday.

She also said thank you to the voters on St. Maarten as well as making special mention of the more than two thousand voters who voted for her making her the largest vote getter on St. Maarten. In her press release she states;

The Democratic Party of Sint Maarten thanks the people of Sint Maarten for their support as expressed in the election of January 22, 2010. The 3645 voters who voted for the Democratic Party have our utmost admiration for their loyalty and support.

To all 11.505 voters, thank you for exercising your right to vote and voting for the party of your choice, DP, NA or PPA.

We have expressed to the leader of the National Alliance our sincerest congratulations for the overwhelming victory attained at the polls and we wish the NA much success in the negotiations for a central government.

For the 2032 persons who voted for me individually, thank you for the confidence placed in me. The Democratic Party will continue to represent the people of this island as we have been doing unselfishly for the past 55 years.

The road ahead is quite challenging, but we must embark on it with the hope of being able to conquer any obstacles in our path.

These coming months will be quite testing for Sint Maarten, reason for us to be even more determined that we will remain vigilant as a people to ensure St. Maarten gets its rightful share from the dismantling of the Netherlands Antilles.

The Democratic Party leader concluded her press release by stating, "Thank you, Sint Maarten. Keep the Faith".

Do not worry Sarah. DP will have a say in country St.Maarten. Now St.Maarten has
to live with NA rule on both levels. Nothing in between to controle NA. But
anyway, the people of thos island will fall asleep under NA rule. White boys you
will be watched and very closely. Bad voter turnout for our minister of
constitutional affairs. This can only means that one is not satisfied with what
he is doing in Curacao for St. Maarten on all levels of government. Ja knikker

Sarah. Dp will get there. Now St,Maartener have no kind of controle on both
levels of government. St. Maarteners will now be left over to the white color
party. Nothing in between. God help us. We now worse off than Haiti without an
earthquake.

my advise to you now is to get
better and more representable people, no offense, on your list
your party lost
the elections but YOU WON, so keep up the FAITH, God is on your side no matter
what the ppl say there are still we who believe in YOU
and to "voter"
you right god spare us for indeed we are worse off than haiti
god forbid this
happen to us ever but we are definately worse off than they are we have disaster

Congratulations to the National Alliance Team. Once you continue to put God in
front you, you will achieve much more yet.
What ever the opposition write on
this Blog is so insignificant because everyone knows that they are soar losers,
and never though that the day will come that they will be out of government on
both Island and Federal levels. They spoke about coming through the back door,
and anything else negative that they thought of, but we the people did not take
them on. So to all Sarah people who are writing negative comments on this blog,
please just give it up and throw in the towel. You are wasting your time. The
people has seen the light and they will never return you to power again. So just
go rest your tired souls and leave the Party that was Elected Rule Sint Maarten
do just that. Thank you very much.

How can you dare compare St Maarten now to be worst of than haiti, are you guys
serious do you follow the news to see what really happened to haiti. Haiti is
looking for relief aid right now and volunteers, so who all feel that sxm is
worst of now please be a volunteer for haiti and go to a better place and leave
the white boys continue to govern sxm the right way. Sarah failed miserably she
lost personal votes while william increased. Theo left, louie left, maria left
and so did some 200 of her voters also and seeing that william increased by this
amount looks like they opted for better leadership. Please dont blame theo or
louie for your lost cause ppl vote for party first then persons after.

words come back to haunt you in 2002 and 2006 while being a sitting commisioner
you asked the people to vote for sarah for parliament now in 2010 dont vote for
william cause he is not going to parliament and in 2007 country above self now
in 2010 i am with sarah and not with country, then loyalty to people and country
do you recall that sarah left the dp and went to pdp then return where was her
loyalty then and last but not least EXPERIENCE COUNTS but you ran a list with
little to no parliamentary experience i think william have more parliament
experience than the entire sarah gang.

Well the impotent leader has finally lost the election by a landslide. Money is
the fuel that drives elections.....and DP did not have enough money. No theo no
money, no Louis no money, No Marietje no money and finally no Frankie, No money.
The vagabonds were putting the money they collected from illicit
businessdealings into the DP campaign
and winning elections back to back. Well
the tables have turned. N>A. is now spending big bucks....wonder where it coming
from? Guess Ennia and Nagico. The new country status has a lot of real potential
for whomever controls the new social security business. That wil be bigger tahn
selling cars. Wait and see how this entire episode will play out itself. DP stay
hom and recuperate cause the people really dont want Sarah's team. We want a
team that can pay us to vote, not a broke team voting out of loyalty for sarah.

Interesting to note is that:
while it is understandable that DP lost 2.994
votes since the last Island Council Elections due to Theo, Loui and Maria not
being on the list, it is interesting to note that N.A merely increased with
1.357 (less than 50%) of the 2.961 votes (combined from Theo/Loui/Maria) that
were up for grabs.

This clearly indicates that: of the other “unaccounted
for” 1.604 voters, some have left the Island and did not return for the
elections and many (I assume) simply did not vote. We do know that 694 votes
were blank, invalid or “other votes” and PPA lost votes rather than
benefited from those votes or did they???. What the “other votes” entail I
do not know. Perhaps the Lt. Gov. or leader of Gov. will outline the issue of
“other votes” to us at a later date.

A few things are certainly clear. 01.
Sarah remains the "over all", individual, preference of the people. 02.
N.A. would not have won the elections had it not been for the public support of
Loui, the (perhaps) behind the scene support of Theo and the clearly increased
financial support to campaign as they previously accused the (present)
opposition of doing. 03. N.A. cannot win an election should any 2 of the no.’s
2, 3, 4 or 6 candidates decide to join Theo. 03. W. Marlin is no longer the
“strong hold” of the N.A. 04. Theo cannot win an election unless he has
“potentially” strong candidates but could become the deciding factor in the
next election. 05. However, Theo has damaged his credibility tremendously by
playing jojo with his supporters.
The questions now are. 01. Would Theo be
willing to join N.A. as the # 2 candidate while he pulls more votes than W.
Marlin? 02. Will he try to confiscate Frans? (as has been speculated). 03. Will
he re-join D.P. as the # 2 candidate? 04. Would Sarah even consider taking him
(Theo) back? 05. Will he (Theo) go ahead as planned with his “green party”?
06. Will 10/10/10 become a reality? (I hope not, we are not ready)
Ah boy,
politics. However, I do hope that this Government will be able to complete the
process, successfully and at the same time practice what they preach and Govern
this Island properly.

P.s.and I don't want to hear any bull crap story about needing time to review
the processes. N.A. had 3 persons in there from the beginning of the process.
William said he stood side by side with Sarah all the way. They should then be
able to continue as of today with or without Sarah, if they stayed awake long
enough during the meetings. We only had Erno in there. Erno (D.P.) and George
Pantophlet (N.A.) were the only 2 person capable of being there all this time.
George I know you and your fam. are die hard N.A. supporters but there comes a
time when each of us have to review what is best. Hint, hint, hint, ;O

The Analysis, give me a break. Sarah was only the highest vote getter because DP
had nobody else to vote for. Those that voted for Sarah should be ashamed,
looking at how "onsportief" she acted when National Alliance came into
government and had to travel to Curacao. She outright refused. This a woman who
keeps claiming Country Above Self. Yeah right, only when she is in charge.
National Alliance is the better team and the people have finally realized that
even the die-hard DP supporters. With or without Louie Laveist's support,
National would've won. It is about time that the people of St. Maarten realizes
that DP is only about themselves and only for themselves, not about the people
of St. Maarten who have been suffering at their hands for years. National
Alliance, make us proud and show the Democratic Party how the people's business
has to be handled.

We have either a few months but at the most
1 year to find out. I am a SXM born voter and I have known SXM when it was
nothing and I have seen it grow. Everywhere in the world people start to
complain when they have people they support and want to see in Govt. Just as so
many believe in the good of what they feel N.A. can do, so HAVE I seen SXM come
from nothing to this investor's paradise and for which N.A. would sell their
soul to get a dig in to.

Many N.A. supporters complain but do they take an
initiative to try and invest in business? NO because they feel that the Govt.
should give them hand outs. They want to go into people's businesses and tell
them how they want to work, I have news for you .... it don't work that way.
Tell me, when this Govt. listens to their supporters and get rid of all the
foreign investors because their supporters complain that "their boss expects
them to actually work for a living and they refuse to" ;O, where will they
place them in jobs? We won't need civil servants since the workload will
decrease instead of increasing.

Even so, many employees today do not have more
than S.V.B.O. degree and can neither read or write properly and have no common
sense. You better wake up and realize that without the investors we are nothing.
No hotels, no restaurants, etc. Will the locals do it? D.P. supporters have a
different mentality and try to help themselves and we appreciate the doors that
D.P. has opened for us over the years in order for us to advance ourselves. That
is why I guess we do not complain as much as N.A. supporters.

You all better
learn to try and help yourself and don't expect your N.A. Government to give you
all the glitter they are promising now. As I said before, time will tell. Good
luck to all of you, we the D.P. supporters will survive, hope you will too.
