PHILIPSBURG - International Liquor & Tobacco Trading(Heineken, Heineken Light, Smirnoff, Johnny Walker, J&B and Baileys) is happy to announce the launch of their New Years Eve Bus Shuttle Service that will run for the very first time this year.

ILTT in collaboration with Mirabelle West, have spearheaded this project in an effort to reduce drunken driving, traffic & parking congestion and increase pedestrian safety on a night of feting and fun.

CIB St Maarten have also endorsed the project and Chippie and Heavenly Water have also sponsored to offer their support.

This is a new project that provides free transportation of the general public from specific car parks via bus shuttle service throughout the Simpson Bay/ Maho-Carevanserai area. Logistical and operational assistance has been provided by Ortega Events & Promotions.

There will be several bus stops along the circular route – enabling party goers the chance to experience all what the festive area has to offer without the hassle of driving and finding parking.

The shuttle service will be available on Thursday December 31st 2009 from 6pm until to January 1st 2010 8am.

Shuttle buses will run along the designated route – providing a free ‘hop on/hop off’ service for the New Years Eve party goers.

An estimated wait time of 30 minutes max between shuttles is anticipated (dependent on current traffic situation). Complimentary Heavenly Water will be provided on board each bus while stocks last.

Car parks such as Princess Juliana International Airport, Le Grand Marche Bush Road, Le Grand Marche Cole Bay and Caribbean Cinemas will be used for FREE mass parking and general pick up points.

These areas will be secured by Sheriff Security and an on road patrol will also provide spot checks of all the locations as well as bus stop areas. Shuttles will be in place at 6pm at all carpark locations and will depart for the first time at 6.30pm.

The bus company – Dutch Tours – is being used for the shuttle service has the appropriate licensed drivers, insurance and number plates in keeping with current passenger safety and on road regulations.

at their car where they parked or their home???
need a ride   |200.7.59.xxx |2009-12-30 12:07:12
Can I take the bus to and from church since my church is in Cole Bay and I live
in the Philipsburg area.
way to go   |200.7.55.xxx |2009-12-30 15:56:36
Great initiative ... people will be able to get on the bus and feel safe not
that while walking to your car you are held up for what ever pocket change you
are carrying with you.
What is The purpose   |72.252.9.xxx |2009-12-30 15:58:56
I would like to know the purpose and who is it really for? If I park at Le Grand
Marche and live in Dutch Quarter. How will I get back to Dutch Quarter if I am
tipsy or drunk when the bus bring me back to Le Grand Marche? Do I drive my
self? What is the purpose of the Shuttle really? Good idea, but still needs some
more work and planning. Happy New Year

who will look at the cars
Finally   |145.118.108.xxx |2009-12-31 02:47:22
I am so happy to see an initiative taken on the island, as the person before me
said it has some knacks that need working on but the first step was taken to
reduce traffic-congestion and to possibly avoid a few accidents related to drunk
driving.

I do think that there should be Sheriff Security or Police Officers
on the bus to keep an eye on what goes on in the bus.
People who rode on school
buses, which may be the majority of sxm'ers, know that things can go wrong in a
split second.

Happy New Year to All
thinking outside the box   |72.252.9.xxx |2009-12-31 08:30:09
great idea! it's all about eliminating traffic and parking problems, once u get
back to your car you are on your own. if you planning to get drunk then in my
opinion do it at your home, this way the road will remain safe for the
responsible people.

drinking and driving is like milk and vinager

have a
SAFE & HAPPY 2010!
