MULLET BAY, St. Maarten - An eager group of golfers gathered at the Mullet Bay Golf course to battle for first place in this special tournament. In the end Keith Graham and Howard Hobgood showed their supremacy to win the two-player team Stableford Golf Tournament. The organizers of the St. Maarten Golf Association (SMGA) were very pleased with the turn out on a very sunny day considering many members had elected to play in Anguilla . Second place was claimed by Didier Kerfourn and Stephane Legendre not far behind were Gitte Poulsen and Frank Jespersen in third place. SIMPSON BAY, St. Maarten - On the penultimate day of the St. Maarten Heineken Regatta, the competitors enjoyed truly gorgeous conditions. Bright sunshine and 15-20 knots of trade winds with a relatively flat sea state. The CSA Classes raced outside Marigot Bay with the wind funneling down the mountainous shoreline, a perfect windward leeward course was set for some epic racing in turquoise blue water. The remainder of the fleet enjoyed a superb playground, flat water, and a tactical race course, taking in the lifts and accelerating zones of the bays along the south coast. CASTRIES, Saint Lucia - The winning boys and girls teams from the national qualifier tournament held at Blue Mall in October 2016 represented St. Maarten well at the Antilles IBF U18 3x3 Championship Final. Although they did not take home the coveted trophy, Team St. Maarten proved to the Caribbean to be no pushovers. The boys, with a 2-2 record, were placed in the most challenging Pool that produced the U-18 male champions (Martinique). The girls played a round robin tournament, facing all 6 teams, and made it to the semifinals with a record of 3-3 and eliminated by Martinique’s undefeated female team who won the female U-18 champions.
