Philipsburg, St. Maarten—Yesterday morning during operation ‘Lockdown’ on St. Martin the Coast Guard fined the captain of the boat SHEILA -2 while patrolling near Simpson Bay. The registration papers of the boat were not in order and there were no flares on board. The captain received a summons for the lack of the flares and for having an invalid registration card.
Continuing with operation ‘Lockdown’ the Coast Guard detained the “Sea Breeze” which was coming from Anguilla to St. Martin with 6 persons on board, including a baby. The boat was transporting an unknown amount of lobsters on board. The captain did not have an export license from the Anguillan government. The captain received a fine of 360, – guilders and an additional fine of 75, – guilders from the public prosecutor for not having a fire extinguisher on board. The fine was paid on the spot.
