PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – In association with TVCARIB, Beyond Kultura Events Foundation has launched a new animated video storybook, based on the children’s books of BKE founder and author Loekie Morales.
The new animated storybook – the second in BKE’s new video storybook series – is based on The Magic Wedding Cake, a book of Loekie Morales published in
English, Papiamentu, Dutch and Spanish in 2012, and featuring the illustrations of artist Tess Verheij.
Read aloud by teacher and poet Marianne Tefft and produced by freelance video editor Tashira Richardson, “The Magic Wedding Cake” tells the tale of young Storyana.
When Storyana opens the door of an ornate colonial building “the Wedding Cake” – which looks like a wedding cake and is the National Archives building
in Curaçao –, she enters a Time Machine and be magically transported back to the days of the history of her island. Indians, Spanish conquistadores, the Dutch and enslaved Africans pass her by.
“I jumped for joy when I saw my story come alive this way,” Loekie Morales says. “Marianne Tefft’s reading voice caresses the ears, and with the animated
images of Tess Verheij, Tashira Richardson has created a new level of experience for children.”
“The Magic Wedding Cake” is to be broadcast on TVCARIBKIDS Story Time in February 2022. With BKE’s first video storybook, “Papito and the Story Telling
Tree,” “The Magic Wedding Cake” Animated Video Storybook is available online at www.tvcarib.com. The video is yesterday on the magical date of 22-2-22 exactly at 2 pm, uploaded by the National Archives of Curaçao on their YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1Rpoeh93XU, where you can listen to and watch the fantastic story of Loekie Morales.
