Weather Forecast for Curaçao and surroundings valid until Friday morning 06:00 l.t., October 20, 2017.

Issued:
Thursday October 19, 2017 05:00 l.t. (09:00 UTC).

CODE YELLOW: PRECAUTION FOR FAIRLY ROUGH SEAS   .

Weather:
Partly cloudy, occasionally mostly cloudy with locally a couple of showers during the morning and early afternoon with a risk of thunder. Dry weather will prevail later this afternoon and early tonight. Shower activity will increase later tonight and early Friday morning with a risk of thunder. Forecast high will be 32ºC, and the low will be 26ºC. Sunrise will occur at 06:26 and sunset at 18:15.

Winds:
Easterly and gentle to fresh; force 3 to 5 (12 to 39 km/h, 7 to 21 knots). Mainly during daytime or in showers, occasionally strong to near gale force in gusts; force 6 to 7 (40 to 61 km/h, 22 to 33 knots).

Synopsis:
The combination of a westward moving tropical wave and an upper-level disturbance was located early this morning over the eastern Caribbean Sea and it will approach our region later today and tonight. These systems will cause a few periods with more clouds with locally a couple of showers today and especially on Friday. Furthermore, the pressure gradient will continue to be unusually tight in our region for this time of the year and that will result in a rather windy condition across the area throughout the remainder of this week.

Sea conditions:
Moderate to fairly rough with wave heights of 1.5 to 2.5 meters (4 to 8 feet). Due to locally fairly rough conditions boaters and swimmers should take account of this (Code Yellow) and not venture far from shore.

Significant tropical weather systems:
None.

Special features:
None.

Outlook until Saturday morning:
Occasionally mostly cloudy, breezy with occasional showers and a risk of thunder.

Forecaster:
Capello.

The next weather forecast will be issued on Thursday at 11:00 l.t. (15:00 UTC).
