PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The Honorable Minister of Public Health Social Development and Labour (VSA) Richard Panneflek expresseshis heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Sint Maarten’s 23rd Covid-19 victim, who passed away today. He wishesthe family much strength during their time of bereavement.
As of November 5th, there were seven (7) persons who tested positive for COVID-19; however there was a recovery rate of twelve (12) persons; bringing the total active cases to seventy- four (74). The total number of confirmed cases is now eight hundred and seventy- seven (877).
The Collective Prevention Services (CPS) are monitoring sixty- four (64) people in home isolation. Nine (9) patients remains hospitalized at the St. Maarten Medical Center and one (1) patient is isolated and being monitored. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 has increase twenty- three (23).
The number of people recovered since the first case surfaced on St. Maarten has increased to seven hundred and eighty (780). Two hundred and fifty- one (251) people are in quarantine based on contact tracing investigations carried out by CPS of persons who may have been in contact with any of the active cases.
CPS has tested 1240 travelers arriving at the Princess Juliana International Airport, (PJIA) and 5696 people throughout the community. As the numbers continue to fluctuate, CPS will continue to actively execute its contact tracing measures.
Minister Panneflek understands that human behavior requires the need to spend time together and being social. However, he would like to reiterate to the community that large gatherings without adhering to the protocols endangers the safety of yourself and your loved ones. The Minister calls on everyone’s civic responsibility to avoid large gatherings and adhere to the mandatory regulations implemented.
